Setting up the FRITZ!Repeater

The FRITZ!Repeater can be deployed anywhere and expands you home network quickly an easily be either adding an additional wireless access point, or providing a FRITZ! Mesh itself as the Mesh Master.

You can configure the FRITZ!Repeater as a Mesh Repeater with a FRITZ!Box, or configure the FRITZ!Repeater as the Mesh Master and connect it either with an existing router or with the device you received from your internet provider.

1 Configuring FRITZ!Repeaters behind a FRITZ!Box

When you use the FRITZ!Repeater behind a FRITZ!Box, the FRITZ!Repeater is a Mesh Repeater and thus adopts all settings of the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master), such as the Wi-Fi network access information and the guest access. You can connect the FRITZ!Repeater with the FRITZ!Box via either Wi-Fi or LAN.

2 Setting up the FRITZ!Repeater behind a router from another manufacturer

When you use the FRITZ!Repeater behind a router from another manufacturer, you can either configure an independent FRITZ!Repeater home network with Mesh functionality, or connect the FRITZ!Repeater with the existing router as a conventional wireless repeater.

In the FRITZ!Repeater home network, the FRITZ!Repeater takes on the role of Mesh Master and provides an independent Wi-Fi network which you can expand with any other FRITZ! devices. As the Mesh Master the FRITZ!Repeater transmits its settings to the other Mesh Repeaters, like for instance FRITZ!Powerline devices or additional FRITZ!Repeaters:

3 Setting up a FRITZ!Repeater behind a device from the internet provider

When you use the FRITZ!Repeater behind the device you received from your internet provider (e.g. modem or ONT), the FRITZ!Repeater takes on the role of Mesh Master and provides an independent home network which you can expand with any other FRITZ! devices. As the Mesh Master the FRITZ!Repeater transmits its settings to the other Mesh Repeaters, like for instance FRITZ!Powerline devices or additional FRITZ!Repeaters:
