Internet phone numbers from Deutsche Telekom behind a Speedport Hybrid are not registered

The FRITZ!Box is used behind a Speedport Hybrid. Since updating FRITZ!OS, the internet numbers from Deutsche Telekom are no longer registered in the FRITZ!Box.

Cause

  • To allow the use of Deutsche Telekom's 'CompanyFlex' plan, the new FRITZ!OS takes the provider's NAPTR record into account, which redirects the transport protocol of the internet phone numbers to TLS.

1 Switching the Telekom internet phone number to UDP

The following step is only necessary if the internet phone number does not belong to a SIP trunk from Deutsche Telekom:

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the Telekom internet phone number.
  4. Select 'Other provider' from the 'Telephony provider' drop-down list.
  5. Click on 'Additional Settings' to display all of the settings.
  6. In the section 'Additional Settings for the Connection', select 'UDP' from the drop-down list 'Transport protocol'.
  7. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

2 Adjusting the number format

Changing the telephony provider to 'Other provider' also changes the format of the phone number and it has to be corrected, otherwise your own phone number is not displayed correctly in the call list:

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the Telekom internet phone number.
  4. In the section 'Telephone Number Format', for example for Berlin (030), enable 'None' for the country code and 'With prefix (030)' in front of the number ('Area code').
  5. Enter the suffix 00*;0*49;0*0#CbC# in the field 'Suffix for internet phone numbers'.
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
